Ok its happened to me twice today. Ive noticed that the taskbar on my Windows XP computer just randomly happened to look like Windows Classic. When I click on start, the menu is fine however the bar isnt. Ive also noted that some of the search results Ive had on Google are slightly weird e.g. when I searched "How to be neat" it gave me things like "43 things" which I doubt are top searches.
Ive got Nortons Antivirus 2005 as well as Ad Aware Personal. both of which are old editions. Ill also run a Windows Live Safety scan from the website to be sure. Any other suggestions? I dont really want to go out and spend loads of money on software, yet neither do I want to have a dead computer.
What do u I think I can do? Is this just a normal problem?
Does this sound like a virus?anti virus software
You have missing files or files that have loaded incorrectly due to some malfunction of sorts. I dont think its the work of a virus, a trogan maybe. but not a virus . Try that AVG free version for your antiviurs, www.grisoft.com its updated constantly.
To fix this problem of yours, go to your Start, Programs, Accessories, System Restore and Restore it to an earlier date on that calendar when your computer worked just fine. Reboot and you should be fine.
If not, you will have to install the first 2 discs of SystemRestore that come with the computer. Make sure you save to desktop and burn a copy of all your needed files and programs as this restores the computer to its as shipped state program wise.
