My laptop keeps on rebooting. What can I do?

When my laptop reboots, it shows a blue sreen for around a second and then it turns back the laptop back on again. This usually happens when i play games but it also happens when I do other things like watch movies, make powerpoint presentations. My laptop is one year old and has a 1gb memory. Under guidance from a friend, I ran a virus scan Norton Antivirus 2005 and found out that my laptop has a virus called Win32 Parite. I fixed those infected files but that still had no effect. I have also tried reinstalling the OS. Please help me.

This answer won't solve the crashing of your Laptop, but will prevent it from rebooting so you are able to look at the bluescreen to see the error message and try to search Google for hints on how to resolve the crashes.

Since I have a German Windows, I try to translate the menus and button names to my best knowledge. However, they can still be named slightly different. I hope this is still useful to you...

To turn off the reboot, right-click on "My Computer" and choose "Preferences" (or just press "Windowskey+Pause/Brk).

Klick on the tab "Advanced"

There are 3 sections and 2 Buttons at the bottom. In the last section called "Start and Recovery" (Below "User profiles") there is a button "Settings". Klick it.
