A dialog box will pop up and say "Windows installer", and then it will say "Norton AntiVirus 2005 does not support the repair function. Please uninstall and reinstall". I sthis a virus? Is it safe to uninstall NORTON? Can I get rid of it?

The Widnows Installer (MSI) can detect SOME corrupt installs and will try to repair the installation. Only some MSI packages support repair. Apparently norton does not. I would suggest uninstalling it and if you want to reinstalling it. Scanning for a virus would be advised, but I don't think this nessicarily points toward any type of malware, just software that doesn't get along.

uninstall norton, reboot your pc. go to E of ethernet, go to properties and go to security and set it to a level that the computer can not get a virus. go to download.com and download an antivirus for your pc always chose the ones with more stars you know better rating. good luck god bless.
