When I try to open the contents of this flash drive on my computer it always freezes up. I've heard that it may either do with the device being damaged (with I highly doubt), my antivirus is trying to check the entire drive (could there be a way to keep it from doing that?) or my computer is a little too old (I got it early in 2005, but it was probably built as a 2004 model.) My USB ports seem to recognize it well, though. I've been told to look at the Sandisk website for drivers, but there are none there. Can I find drivers for this antwhere else?

The driver is usbstor.sys which can be found anywhere; you can google it and download it but I doubt that is the issue. You didn't mention if this happens only on your PC, did you try to plug it in other machines? it may also be your computer handling the usb disc;

That happened to be - but it turned out to be a bad USB drive. Try to open the contents on other machines.
I think that if it were a driver problem, Windows would tell you that it needs to find a driver.
