I can't log off PC because of ccApp error message?

I need help here. Every night when I log from Windows XP, I get Task Manager telling me it is "Ending Program ccApp" or something. I know there is an .exe file from Symantec Norton on my PC with that name, but apparently it's a program that helps to close down processes. Instead of this my screen suddenly goes black (not back to the users id welcome screen as it is supposed to) and I can't even Ctrl-Alt-Delete or re-boot it (even after an hour or so). I have to unplug or switch off the poweroutlet. And I don't know if that is good for the PC... This PC is only a month old. It's an Acer Aspire AST650. I have Norton AntiVirus 2005 (which I think might be the culprit - but which came with the PC.)

Thanks so long for any help.

Urghh, definately Norton. Just a question, how much RAM do you have? Norton uses nearly all of it if you have 256 and they even recommend a minimum of 512 if you run Norton. I got rid of mine and went over to McAfee.. much lighter on memory.

Uninstall it, then put it back if you are going to keep it, but I recommend you visit their website to check out the uninstall procedures, there are a few files you need to delete by hand.

Good luck

you may want to uninstall and reinstall Norton. or try this

If the problem is Nortan I would take it off your computer and see if the problem continues.
Try to un-install first the Norton AV...
